My family loves this stew made with mince beef. Rich and hearty, it's good on a cold night. You can add any vegetables that you want. The choice is endless!BIG UPDATED - Don't know where my brain was when writing this recipe out! Sorry everyone
Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Cook and stir ground beef, onion, garlic, in the hot pan until beef is browned and crumbly and onion is translucent, 5 to 7 minutes. Drain and discard grease.
1 kg mince beef, 1 onion, 1 clove garlic
Add celery & carrots and fry together with mixture
2 large celery sticks, 4 large carrots
Stir in 4 cups water, beef stock, Worcestershire sauce, pepper, and maggie seasoning; bring to a simmer. Simmer for about 35 minutes - no lid
Add potatoes and green beans and cook through - 20 mins (you may need to add more water - I always do - or boil the potatoes separately for a quicker time when you add the water above and tip them in when ready)
4 medium potatoes, 1 cup green beans
If you like crunchy beans put them in with flour mixture in next step
Mix flour and 2 tablespoons water together in a small bowl until no lumps remain; add more water if necessary. Stir mixture into stew; simmer until stew has thickened, 5 to 10 minutes.
3 tablespoons all-purpose flour, 2 tablespoons water
Notes
Recipe Tip You can use fresh or frozen green beansWhen kids are fussy mash the whole lot with a potato masher. This disguises all the veggies and just looks like meat.
