My kids used to love the Farley Baby Rusks. They would chomp on them for hours. They would also lose them, gag on them – shove them down the back of their mouth. So I decided to see if I could make ROUND Rusks and it worked.
Mine look like a sliced bagel. Easy to hang on to, easy to chew, hard to choke on. These are Ivy tried and tested and she just loved them. They get “goopy” but don’t fall apart like the original Rusks which is great.
Baby Rusks in a Thermomix - Plain
What's Needed
- Thermomix
- Oven
- Donut Tray
- Zester (see notes)

Ingredients
- 150 gms Rice White or Brown
- 160 gms Very Ripe Bananas
- Olive Oil (Spraying Tin)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 180C
- Weigh rice into mixing bowl.150 gms Rice
- Mill 30secs | Speed 9 Scrape down bown and repeat 2-3 time till powder
- Add Banana in pieces and add to the mixing bowl
- Mix 10 secs | speed 5
- Form mixture into log shapes and build around donut rings
- Place in the oven for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown
- Allow to cool completely
- Using your Zester - file off rough and pointy bit.
Notes
I use a Zester or grater to take off the sharp edges so that the rusks don't hurt the gums.
Any time of fruit will work, just make sure its pureed
Rusks last for 3 days in airtight container, however I freeze mine and Ivy loves them COLD COLD COLD!!

Ingredients
- 2 cups All-purpose flour White or Brown
- 1 cup rice or oat flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter
- 1/4 cup applesauce (stewed apples)
- 1/4 cup milk of choice
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 180C
- Combine dry ingredients: In the Thermomix bowl2 cups All-purpose flour, 1 cup rice or oat flour, 1 tsp baking powder
- Mix 20 secs | Speed 5
- Add wet ingredients1/4 cup unsalted butter, 1/4 cup applesauce (stewed apples), 1/4 cup milk of choice
- Mix 20 secs | speed 4 - until combined
- Knead dough - 2 minutes (DON'T LEAVE TM ALONE)
- Flatten and shape the rusks. Long or donut shape
- Bake for 15-18 minutes
