How to insert a butterfly whisk into a Thermomix is very easy – when you know how.
This took me ages to learn and figure out, but once I did there was no turning back. This will stop the butterfly whisk coming off and causing potential damage to your whisk and maybe even your Thermomix.
- Identify the MASTER BLADE – It is the ONLY blade that goes out and straight up.
- The Master Blade is also the only blade that has the Thermomix Symbol on it.
- Have the bowl in place with the MASTER BLADE at 12 O’Clock. Insert the Butterfly Whisk at 11 O’Clock.
- You will notice if you twist it a little and lift gently – it will have attached to the blade itself.

One of our dear clients experienced a rather unfortunate incident involving her Thermomix. While cooking, an unexpected mishap occurred. Thermie decided to embark on an unplanned “base jump” from the countertop to the floor. It was a truly horrifying moment for poor Clare. She immediately contacted me, seeking guidance on what to do next. I promptly gathered all the necessary information for the repair process, but I couldn’t help but wonder, “What caused this?” Clare shared the details of what she was preparing, and I couldn’t fathom how the Thermomix could have moved during the cooking process—unless, of course, the butterfly whisk was not properly inserted.
To ensure that this doesn’t happen to you and your Thermie, I have provided some images below. Please take a moment to ensure that the butterfly whisk is correctly positioned before proceeding to use your Thermomix. This way, you can prevent it from becoming loose and throwing your Thermie off balance.
Below is a printable – HOW TO – to keep close by – just in case.
