Money Saving & Handy

I can’t speak for everyone, but I personally enjoy shopping at Costco. It’s a great place to stock up on various items in bulk, which in itself leads to significant savings.

One concern I had when buying in bulk, particularly with products like flour, was whether it would spoil or attract pests like weevils. Needless to say, I wanted to avoid such issues.

When I discussed this concern with a friend, they shared a brilliant solution – freezing the flour. I was amazed by the simplicity of the idea!

Here’s what I did: I purchased large containers from Kmart, which cost approximately $5 each.

It’s worth noting that when you take the flour out of the freezer, it may appear clumpy. However, there’s no need to worry – it only looks that way. The flour is perfectly fine and can be used without any issues.

While Costco is certainly known for its affordability, it’s not the only place where you can find great deals. Many supermarkets also offer 5kg bags of flour for around $14, which is a much more cost-effective option compared to buying smaller quantities.

So, whether you’re a fan of shopping at Costco or prefer your local supermarket, there are ways to make the most of your purchases and ensure that your supplies, like flour, remain fresh and free from pests.
