February Meal Planning

January 28, 2024

Today marked my dedicated session for mapping out our meal plans for the upcoming month of February.

Last month’s experience, I meticulously took inventory of the items in my freezer and crafted our meals around those available ingredients. Surprisingly, I discovered that minced meat has a shelf life of only three months in the freezer, leading to a substantial cleanup of my frozen stock.

For the month of February, I created a menu that not only aligned with my culinary preferences but also embraced a Weight Watchers (WW) Friendly approach. Whenever possible, I adapted recipes to suit my Thermomix.

I must express my gratitude to Anna Van Dyken for her invaluable contributions through her two exceptional books, Cookidoo and the WW app. The past month has been a delightful culinary journey, and I’ve managed to shed nearly 2 kilograms along the way.

As I transition into February, I set a goal to incorporate a diverse range of meals into our plan. Specifically, I aimed for 10 chicken dishes, 7 fish-based meals, 3 featuring red meat, and 2 vegetarian options. Thanks to the guidance from Anna, the resources on Cookidoo, and a few recipes from our personally created, I successfully achieved this goal.

With the menu solidified, I proceeded to the next step of my meal planning process – the shopping.

I had my list of meats, fish, and other essential items, resulting in a budget-friendly total of $204 for the entire month. However, it’s worth noting that we will still need fresh fruits and vegetables separately, as I prefer to handpick them rather than relying solely on supermarket offerings. This approach ensures the quality of our produce aligns with our culinary standards.

Here’s to another month of delicious and health-conscious meals!
